Gates and gates

Hi everyone,

Another warm autumn day here, which I was all kinds of glad for.

I kicked off the day putting out a bag of salt mixed with Minavit for the cattle.  They weren't much interested (which is a little odd: at the moment they're chewing stones in search of extra minerals, although it's most likely for phosphorous or calcium). Anyway, I'll add some molasses to it tomorrow which should tempt them.

The old boy and Michael went into Shepparton and I gave the dog a run. When they got back we set up done gates around the pump-shed in a paddock the cattle will go into shortly to give them some extra feed.

After lunch, we went over to Michaels place to finish work on those gates from yesterday.

Naturally, the heifers came down to investigate. They're inquisitive things!

A big whack of the balance of the afternoon was spent on the roof of the shearing shed (see yesterday's post) nailing down and re screwing sheets of iron loosened in the big blow of wind the other week (sorry, no photo).

Afternoon finished well as the sun set in a flood of golden light.  One of the other shed there looked as iconic as hell!

Chilly evening tonight. Hoping the warm days stretch out for a while!

More tomorrow.
